Postal workers
All day
Explore the everyday working lives of postal workers in the 20th century. In the Postal Garage, you can experience 14 photographs that offer a unique insight into their daily work.
The mail must get through – to towns and rural communities, across mountains, along fjords and out to the islands. It is the people who ensure that letters and parcels reach their destination.
Since 1647, postal workers have helped connect the country. We recognise the red postboxes, the uniforms and the vehicles – but behind them are the people, with a wide range of roles and expertise.
The work ranges from delivering mail to your door, to the many tasks carried out behind the scenes in a complex logistics system.
The photographs are drawn from The Postal Museum’s extensive photo collection.
In The Postal Garage, you can also explore Norway Post’s collection of historic vehicles in the exhibition Treasures on Wheels.
